The Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, the largest and well preserved sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, lies in the Western Ghats south of the Palghat Gap, better known as Anaimalais (Elephant Hills). With an area of 958 sq.km, it is rich in flora and fauna. This protected area constitutes the most important watershed for the agricultural economy an power supply. Major reservoirs like Parambikulam, Aliyar, Thirumurthi, Upper Aliyar, Kadambarai, Sholayar and Amaravathi are fed by the perennial rivers which originate from the sanctuary. The tribal communities living in the sanctuary are Kadar, Malasar, Malai Malasar, Muduvar, Pulayar and Eravalar. They participate in the management as Forest and Antipoaching Watchers.

Arrival at Coimbatore airport/railway station and proceed to Indira Gandhi wildlife sanctuary. Check in to the farm stays. Visit Masaniamman Temple, Anaimalai tiger reserve. Stay at farms.
After breakfast transfer to Topslip, Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary, Valley viewpoint, Dam viewpoint, Kannimara safari and Pug mark trail at Parambikulam. Night return to farms.
Early morning small nature walks in, after breakfast visit to Monkey falls, Waterfall Tea plantations. Balaji Temple and evening drop at Coimbatore Airport or Railway Station.
January, February, and March: Spring Season. Weather will be cold. Woolen clothes will be preferable. Take your Jerkins and use when in need. Trekking shoes will be ideal.
April, May, and June: Summer Season. Weather will be warm. Cotton clothes will be preferable. Casual shoes will suit the climate. Wearing sunglasses will be an added advantage.
July, August, and September: Autumn Season. Weather will be rainy. Raincoats and Jackets are mandatory. Please carry umbrellas. Rugged shoes will blend with the weather conditions.
October, November, and December: Winter Season. Weather will be misty and foggy. Sweaters, Jerseys can be used in this climate. Winter Boots are recommended.
